What is the Helping Heroes Fund?

The Helping Heroes Fund is a 501c3 charity dedicated to supporting veterans and their families.

100% of the funds raised go toward programs including PGA HOPE New England and the Travis Mills Foundation to provide financial assistance, wellness support, and community reintegration services.

1 | What is the New England PGA Foundation’s role?

The NEPGA Foundation (dba PGA REACH New England) is organizing this initiative and coordinating fundraising efforts, including collecting donated items (such as golf shirts) to generate support for the Helping Heroes Fund and to put “shirts on the backs of veterans."

2 | How will donated shirts be used?

Donated shirts may be:

  • Slightly worn, these shirts will be redistributed with proceeds going to veteran charities
  • New shirts (any unworn items) will be donated to veterans directly through a third party
  • All proceeds directly benefit the Helping Heroes Fund, PGA HOPE New England and the Travis Mills Foundation

3 | What are the benefits of donating?

Participating professionals, golf facility patrons / members and golf facilities receive:

  • Charitable impact – Directly support of veterans and their families
  • Recognition – Acknowledgment in event materials, signage, and communications (as applicable), the logo of the PGA recognized facility will be added to the NEPGA website
  • Community goodwill – Alignment with a meaningful cause that resonates with members and guests
  • Brand visibility – Exposure through events and fundraising activities
  • Tax deduction – all donations are tax deductible

4 | What types of shirts are you looking for?

We welcome:

  • Men’s and women’s golf shirts, pants and shorts
  • New and slightly worn items
  • A range of sizes

5 | Is there a minimum or maximum donation amount?

No—donations of any size are appreciated. Whether it’s a few shirts or a larger contribution, every item helps support the cause.

6 | Can clubs include their logo or branding?

Yes, and it’s encouraged. Logoed merchandise can enhance value and increase visibility for your club.

7 | Will donors be recognized?

Yes. Recognition may include:

  • Event signage
  • Program listings
  • Verbal acknowledgment at events
  • Social media or post-event communications (when applicable)

 

8 | Are donations tax-deductible?

PGA REACH New England and Helping Heroes Fund can provide documentation for tax purposes. Please consult your tax advisor for specific guidance.

9 | What is the deadline for donations?

Deadlines will be communicated based on event timelines. Early responses are encouraged to assist with planning and logistics.

10 | How do we coordinate delivery or pickup?

Once you confirm participation, PGA REACH New England & Helping Heroes Fund will provide:

  • Helping Heroes will pick up all donations at your designated club (we will work with Golf Professional and/or General Manager)
  • Helping Heroes will provide a basket with signage for both men’s and women’s locker room
  • A representative will be in contact with the club at best times to drop off as well as pick up baskets
